I am 40-year-old, HR professional at a Fortune 500 company. Collectivity, I have over 15 years of experience in the areas of Human Resources, Management and Leadership, and People Leading.  I have a Master of Science in Management and Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership.  I identify with the struggles people face every day with the disconnect between professional purpose and current situation. I have personally experienced being laid-off and taking the new job at half my pervious pay, having more month than money. I’ve had to live and overcome my own self imposed career mistakes and hurrdled the roadbloack placed in front of me by those who didn’t value my talent. I want to share my experiences and insight in hopes I can encourage someone to not give up on themselves.

I decided to launch my website and blog in early 2020, after I made the decision to start investing in my professional development and branding.  I was at a crossroads in my life. I had all the pieces to the puzzle, but was still struggling to advance my career. Coincidentally, I was constantly having the same conversation with many others. I was an educated black woman in Corporate America with a resume filled with successful accomplishments, yet I wasn’t where I wanted to be in my career. I checked all of the boxes that I was told to check. In additon, I knew if I wanted to change my situation I needed to try a new approach, unlearn some old habits and shift my perspective.

I want to create a space that challenges the career norms and rules and drives us reconsider what to do when you don’t know what to do.  I know the mistakes I’d made, lessons learned, and my journey towards self-realization could encourage someone to keep grinding until they figure it out.
